At
Central Bank of Georgia, Your Funds are Insured by the FDIC and Your Information
is Protected by the Latest Technology
Security
is a major concern for every investor as it should be. The point,
of course, is that we¹re dealing with YOUR money. And while the
Internet has created millions of jobs and provided instantaneous
access to financial information 24-hours a day, it also is the
focus of suspicion. Specifically, online banking often conjures
up images of hackers and black-cloak operations, manipulating
hundreds of computers and databases while embezzling millions
of dollars in funds at the whim of a few. While this makes great
fodder for movies and television, this suspicion is far from the
truth. In reality, the United States Banking System is one of
the most secure institutions anywhere.
In
addition to dealing with a banking institution almost a century
old, you can have peace of mind knowing that your funds are FDIC-insured
up to $100,000 per depositor. Central Bank of Georgia has also implemented
the latest technology to protect your personal information and
privacy, and to provide you the most secure online banking experience
anywhere. As noted by our Privacy Statement, we will not share
your information with anyone not directly related to the bank
unless required to do so by law. The following information provides
further details about our security measures which protect you
and your informational privacy as a customer of Central Bank of Georgia:
Secure
Communications
Central Bank of Georgia is extremely cautious when communicating with you about your
account and other personal financial information. Because of this,
we communicate with you via secure email. Data is encrypted as
it travels from our network servers to and from your PC. Encryption
is accomplished through "Secure Sockets Layer" or "SSL" which
is the de facto standard for data encryption on the Internet.
This means your sensitive financial information cannot be deciphered
by unauthorized individuals.
Secure
Login
Once
your account is opened, we assign you a User ID and password that
are unique to you. They are stored in a protected, secure environment
that isolates them from the potential threats over the Internet.
In addition, because passwords can vary from six to eight characters,
the chance of randomly guessing a password is less than one in
1,000,000,000,000. (That's 1,000 billion!).
Secure
Environment
Central Bank of Georgia¹s online banking system does not connect directly to the
Internet. It is protected by a series of "firewalls" an interface
that reviews requests for access and only approves those requests
that are authorized much like a guard booth at a military base.
Consisting of both software and hardware, firewalls define, control
and limit the access "outside" computers have to the bank's internal
computers.
Secure
Reviews
Central Bank of Georgia continuously monitors and audits all transactions originating
from or outbound to the Internet. We operate with all the rules
and regulations of banking and bank security as set forth by the
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and Office of Thrift
Supervision. We are committed to ensuring that our customers¹
privacy and personal information is protected from unauthorized
access, irrespective of the source.
